Bring me a towel, Mr. Tangerine Speedo...I don't know if this is my new favorite song, or if it's just a passing mania, but I just love the song "Tangerine Speedo" by Caviar, which I just discovered at the end of the Charlie's Angels soundtrack and have been listening to, over and over, for the last day and a half. It's got just the right blend of coolness, kitsch, edge, and heterosexual effeminacy. Plus the mental image of a tangerine speedo gives me the vapors!
Of course, I made up my own version of the lyrics, which have a more homoerotic tone... not on purpose, mind you, but when I looked up the lyrics, I was surprised to see that I had misunderstood a couple of key passages. To me, it was about a guy on a gay cruise running into the straight hustlers who screw American men for money. Then I read the lyrics, and that's not at all what they were singing about.
I prefer my own version, of course.
So go visit the Caviar website (it's very untidy with blind links, but still very cute), download the "vmation" and an MP3 or so (yes, I'm still living in the stone age and don't have an MP3 player of my own) and see if you like them. I, in the meantime, am going to consider stinging this with my boner (I could have sworn that's how the verse went... what do you hear?) ...
